What’s Next For PSR-LA: Protecting Health, People, and Democracy First

Like many of you, we have been left to process the results of the 2024 presidential election. It has ignited a wave of emotion, but more importantly, prompted us to ask, what’s next?

At PSR-LA, one thing is clear: despair will not define us. Grief will not overwhelm our resolve. We refuse to cower in the face of injustice or allow fear to derail our vision of a healthier, more just, and equitable world. Instead, we will double down on our mission to protect public health, defend the environment, and safeguard our democracy from inhumane policies targeting everything from energy to immigration. This is our moment to rise—for ourselves, for each other, and for the generations yet to come.

We remain resolute in our mission to make California and our beloved County of Los Angeles a beacon of health, justice, and equity. In the face of federal threats, our state and local governments can and must lead by example, demonstrating what it means to meet the needs of everyday people with compassion and integrity. Community organizing and coalition building are essential strategies for the years ahead, and we know how to get it done.

We will defend science, health professionals, our Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.

We will stand with immigrants, our LGBTQ+ communities, and all those targeted by Trump.

We will strongly oppose and fight anti-science figures like RFK Jr.

We will elevate the voices of doctors, nurses, public health experts, and other health professionals alongside communities to defend evidence-based science, quality care, reproductive rights, access, and environmental justice.

PSR-LA will protect our hard-won victories and, more importantly, champion the right to self-determination. We will continue to push forward to transform systems so that every person can thrive in a state that values health, human rights, and the environment. The challenges ahead are immense—but so is our resolve.

Together, we will persist.
