Tevin has joined PSR-LA as the Coalition Coordinator for the Environmental Justice Communities Against Plastic (EJCAP) Coalition. In this role, he oversees coalition operations and spearheads efforts to combat plastic pollution throughout its lifecycle in Los Angeles.
Tevin's advocacy for environmental justice took root during his tenure at Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA, where he confronted the environmental challenges plaguing communities such as "cancer alley." This region, characterized by a dense concentration of petrochemical plants, disproportionately impacts low-income communities of color, exacerbating severe public health issues.
Determined to amplify marginalized voices, Tevin pursued a master's degree in environmental management from the Yale School of the Environment, specializing in environmental policy analysis and environmental justice. During his tenure at Yale, as an active member of the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Sustainability Initiative (JEDSI) group, he conducted groundbreaking analyses. His research delved deeply into the complex interplay of race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, exploring the profound implications for environmental inequality in urban areas at both local and national levels.
In his leisure time, Tevin enjoys playing golf and savoring whiskey on the rocks.
