As a Development Associate, Lucia supports the organization in grantseeking and fundraising. Prior to joining PSR-LA, Lucia worked at a multicultural advertising agency that partnered primarily with government and nonprofit sector clients to help disseminate their messaging to hard-to-reach communities. There, she gained fiscal management and community building skills, which now inform her current role. She also brings writing experience by way of a journalism master’s degree from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, where she produced works that earned nominations from the L.A. Press Club Awards two years in a row.
Lucia’s passion for environmental justice began with her Girl Scouts Silver Award project: A self-published booklet filled with short stories incorporating methods for conserving water and energy. While her middle school work was — to put it kindly — aspirational, she’s drawn to the opportunity to make a real impact on the world with PSR-LA.
Despite spending her childhood in Miami, Lucia has developed a long list of favorite places in Los Angeles after six years of residence. In her free time, Lucia can be found at her local movie theater (thank you, discount Tuesdays), the Silver Lake Farmers Market (shout out to the L.A. Compost booth!), or at home, baking banana bread and watching YouTube videos of her favorite K-pop idols.
