Jazmine joined PSR-LA in 2017 as the Land Use and Health Program Associate and now oversees PSR-LA’s land use, air quality, and toxics work. In her current role, she strategically guides several teams in the implementation of various efforts aimed at redressing historical harms and shaping a healthy and safe built environment in South Central Los Angeles and across the state. She also engages heavily with partners around intersectional issues, including housing, green space, transportation, and economic development.

Jazmine grew up in an environmental justice community in Southern California, where she developed a passion for social justice and health. She left for college with an understanding of how the built environment impacted health and strengthened her ability to help change the conditions of communities like hers through her work for the City of Chicago, organizing on the Southside and supporting various non-profits through communications consulting. Prior to these roles, she carried out research in the Dominican Republic on health, nutrition, and environmental issues.

Jazmine holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences with a Specialization in Neuroscience from the University of Chicago. She currently serves as an At-Large Representative on the United Neighborhoods Neighborhood Council and holds positions on the University of Chicago Association of Black Alumni and Dell Scholars Alumni Boards. In her free time, she is likely overwatering her plants or reading at Kenneth Hahn Park with her dog.
